So yesterday was prom.

I’m not going to lie, I was absolutely dreading it. I’m a person who likes a lot of structure but the group I went with never had any solid plans. That alone made me not want to go anymore and then a bunch of other stuff happened and I was ready to just call it a day and not go. But after the whole picture ordeal at the lake, not knowing where to go, and dinner, I was good to go. My date was not into dancing what so ever and the group I was in wasn’t really dancing. So I ended up going off and finding other friends and had a blast! I’m not much of a dancer myself and there wasn’t much we could do dancing wise because of our dresses and the music, but god damn was it fun! After prom was over we went to my friends boyfriends house to change. During that tim period I accidently flashed a group of guys who happened to be watching me and this girl Holly change through a window. Lets just say the guys we were with weren’t to happy about those guys being absolute pigs and they went to see what was up. Gotta love my friends! Well then we went to a friends house. We drank, a lot. I didn’t puke though! although, I almost did this morning when I woke up and then I actually did after I took a shower. Now I’m going to Cedar Point with a slight hangover. Lets see how well this works out!

The last time your hair was like this you weren’t in school yet, I was so nervous about kids being cruel. I walked you to school on Tuesday morning and stayed awhile to make sure everything was going to go smoothly, which it did. When I picked you up you said, “Olivia liked my hair. She said she didn’t want her hair like this, but she liked mine like this. And we’re still friends. That’ just like how I don’t want to have purple hair like Allison, but I love Allison’s purple hair. You don’t have to have all the same stuff as your friends.” Wise beyond your years, baby child. I’m so proud of you and how you have the courage to be exactly who you want to be, despite any other outside influences. While we’re on the topic of gender, when I was at parent teacher conferences a few months ago a mom of this little boy approached me. She told me how he wanted to paint his nails and go to school. She let him. When he came home he said, “Scarlet loved my nails, Mom!” I’ve never been so proud.

This is Haylee. I met her online recently and was given permission to share her story. Shes 16 years old and has been suffering with Anorexia Nervosa (binge purge subtype) for 10 years now. She has permanent heart problems, shes has 2 heart attacks since January, and was in a coma in March. Shes constantly in the hospital due to her eating disorder, and shes spent 7 months in the hospital this year. It’s come to my attention that there are a lot of people on tumblr with “pro-anorexic” blogs who seem to WANT this disease and give “tips” to their followers to “become anorexic”. I want you to look at this photo, at this young girl who has wasted 10 years of her life in agony and ask yourself, how can you be pro this? How can you encourage others to do this to themselves? Please reblog this and help it get around to other blogs to show the reality of eating disorders and the pain they cause and put a stop to “pro anorexia” blogs.
